Renovation & Resurfacing

An aging pool, restored to a higher standard than the original build.

Unlike companies that outsource renovation work, every phase is completed by the same in-house team responsible for our new pool construction projects. Paired with our commitment to superior materials, proven construction methods, and exacting attention to detail, this approach enables us to deliver renovations that not only look exceptional upon completion but continue to perform beautifully for years to come. Whether your pool requires cosmetic enhancements, modern equipment upgrades, or a complete structural rebuild, Tortorella delivers renovations designed to extend the life of your investment while elevating its performance, safety, and appearance. Using the same premium materials, craftsmanship, and construction standards that define our custom-built pools, we create results that are as durable as they are beautiful.

  • Full structural renovation: strip to shell, rebuild every system

  • Plaster & pebble resurfacing

  • Tile replacement & coping repair

  • Equipment upgrades & automation retrofits

  • Crack & leak repair, water-feature additions

15 years of great service. In addition to great humans, I really appreciate the volume of equipment they have on stock and their relationships with the manufacturers when warranty issues come up. Those warranty claims have come up big for me.

Matthew Daimler

I had a fantastic experience with Tortorella Pools. Their customer service was prompt and clear, and their team was quick and clean — you would never even know they were onsite to service the pool. Thanks to them, we had a wonderful summer.

FAQs

Building a custom pool is a significant decision, and we're here to make it effortless. Find answers to the questions clients ask us most often before a build begins.

Inquire

A typical Tortorella new build runs sixteen to twenty-two weeks from permit issuance to swim-ready, depending on scope. The Hamptons build window is roughly March through October, so we plan around weather, soil conditions, and the back-end coordination with your architect, landscape team, and any concurrent house construction. Hamptons permitting cycles vary and we adjust the schedule accordingly. Our timelines hold because we manage every trade in-house: design, gunite, equipment, finishing.

Yes, start to finish. We prepare and file the building permit application, manage the variance process where needed (many waterfront and water-table properties require one), and coordinate directly with town building departments across East Hampton, Southampton, Sag Harbor, and Bridgehampton. Our team has worked with these jurisdictions for four decades; we know what they will and won't approve before we draw it.

Yes. A significant portion of our construction work runs through the architect-and-builder channel. We read drawings carefully, communicate during shop drawings and construction, and flag conflicts early so the broader project stays on schedule. Our team precisely executes complex design details like knife-edge perimeters, integrated spas, automatic covers, and custom water features, and we hold ourselves to the same standard the rest of the build is held to.

Replastering refreshes the interior finish, typically a one-to-two-week project that restores the surface without touching the structure. A full renovation goes deeper: we strip the pool back to the gunite shell, repair any structural issues, retile, recoat, upgrade the equipment pad to current standards, and bring automation up to spec. Replastering is the right call when the structure is sound. A full renovation is the right call when the pool is more than fifteen years old or has structural cracks, dated equipment, or finishes that have failed.

Many of our construction clients move directly into a Tortorella maintenance plan: same team, same standard, same point of contact. We open and close the pool each season, run twice-weekly visits during the season, document every service with photos, and handle warranty issues directly with our equipment partners. The build is the beginning of the relationship; the service is what keeps the pool reading like the day we finished it.

Yes. We build on every Hamptons site condition that exists. Waterfront properties, high water tables, salt-air exposure, historically significant land, septic constraints, and the dewatering and engineering challenges that come with each. The construction risk is ours, not yours, and we price it in at the start, not as a series of overruns midway through the project.

Yes, and this is one of the reasons clients choose us. The pools we build are designed to be serviced by our maintenance team, and many of them are, for decades. Every equipment choice, every finish selection, every access point is made by people who know they may be the ones maintaining it. That continuity changes how we build.

After the Build

A pool built to this standard deserves to be maintained the same way.

The build is the beginning of the relationship. Many of our construction clients move into a Tortorella maintenance plan from day one: same team, same standard, same single point of contact through every season.
