Why the Hamptons is different.
Pools on the East End are built into landscapes that have been cared for over generations. The hardscape, the planting plan, the position of the pool relative to the main house: every decision lands within a context that's been shaped by a half-century of taste. Building well here means building with a specific kind of restraint.
That restraint is what separates a pool that ages with the property from one that dates the moment it's filled. The clearest signal of quality is what you don't notice: a coping detail that disappears into the surrounding stone, a tile selection that reads as material rather than color, a coping line that's perfectly level across forty feet of run.

The build window matters.
Most Hamptons projects are built between October and May. That window is non-negotiable for properties that need to be guest-ready by Memorial Day, and it dictates almost every upstream decision, from when permits get filed to when the gunite crew is scheduled to when the mechanical room equipment is ordered.
Three years out feels like overkill until you've watched a build slip into the wrong season. The owners we work with on multi-year projects always tell us, in the end, that the slow timeline was the right one.

What we're watching now.
The biggest shift in the last five years is energy management. Heat pumps, automated covers, and chemistry telemetry are no longer luxuries; they're how a 60,000-gallon pool stays open eight months a year without an unforgivable utility bill. We're now specifying these systems on every new build, not just the trophy projects.
