Where it all began
John Tortorella founded Tortorella in 1981 when he graduated with a degree in business and marketing from the New York Institute of Technology. Having worked his way through school cleaning pools – and spending years working side by side with his father, a mason by trade – John not only saw the lack of creativity and quality in the gunite swimming pool industry . . . he knew he could be more innovative than what was currently being built. Today… Tortorella ranks among the top firms nationwide and is the designer and builder of some of the most spectacular pools on Long Island and New York City. Showcased in such leading publications as House & Gardens, Forbes, and The New York Times. The company boasts numerous awards, including those from the National Spa & Pool Institute, Northeast Spa & Pool Association and Pool & Spa News. Now under new leadership, the company brings extensive operational expertise, along with John’s decades-long pool experience to develop a growing, robust organization.
